ABOUT
Andres Peña is an Australian fine art landscape and adventure photographer whose work explores remote places, night skies, wildlife and the relationship between atmosphere, solitude and light.
His photography is shaped by the experience of being in a place as much as by the image itself. Long drives before dawn, solitary walks beneath dark skies, changing weather, repeated visits and the uncertainty of whether a photograph will come together are all part of the process.
Rather than simply documenting locations, Andres looks for moments when light, atmosphere and place align in a way that feels both unexpected and emotionally resonant. That same approach extends beyond landscape into wildlife, architecture, aviation and people — different subjects connected by a consistent interest in mood, structure, movement and presence.
Alongside photography, Andres works as a doctor in intensive and coronary care. The two worlds are very different, but both demand patience, observation and attention to detail. Photography provides the space to slow down, explore and spend time in places where the outcome cannot be controlled.
Recognition
His work has received national and international recognition through photographic awards, exhibitions and publications. He holds the Master of Photography certification awarded by The Institute of Photography - Photo Serge / Serge Ramelli, as well as APS and FIAP distinctions, two APS Merit Medals, and selection to represent the Australian Photographic Society in the 2026 4 Nations Inter-Country Photography Competition.
The work continues to evolve through new places, new conditions and the ongoing pursuit of photographs that feel worth the journey.
